Waikare II hits the water

This vessel is a comprehensive workboat with large crane and good size work area for undertaking harbour maintenance tasks as well as oil spill recovery, pilotage and harbourmaster roles, and will be based in Opua Northland.


This vessel designed by De Villers Marine Design, then built by the skilled in house Circa Team in a little over 12months from cutting plate to launch of the vessel. Sea trials were short with systems and design proving capable and efficient.


Powered by twin Scania DI13 073M 550hp with ZF 400A gearboxes, Waikere II has a top speed of 24.5 knots, and a cruise speed of 16 knots.

"Waikere II" replaces the current 16m vessel “Waikare”, which Circa Marine also built and launched in 2003, and has served the Team at Northland Regional Council very well in its 21years of service for them, Waikare has been meticulously maintained and well looked after, which is very evident once you step aboard, and is a credit to the crew & council team.
