Seafinn refit, The story so far

Several months ago, we were invited to tender for a major refit and upgrade of the South Island based 19m charter vessel “Seafinn”

The project has a challenging timeframe, but the owners have a very clear vision of the desired layout and features they require in the vessel, which made the discussions regarding the design concepts and scope of work easy to navigate, so after a few long Zoom calls the detailed scope of work and budgets had been agreed to, and the boat was underway for her 5-day passage from Deep Cove to Whangarei.

Accommodation before strip out

Almost from the moment she arrived, the strip out and 3d scanning began, with the design and naval architecture following closely behind. There is a substantial worklist, but briefly the scope of work is to upgrade the accommodation below, extend the main saloon and install a new galley, add a new superstructure which will house the new helm and new crew accommodation, and the vessel will also be extended by around 3m.

The extensive structural fabrication work means there is also a considerable amount of design, electrical, plumbing, engineering, painting & internal fitout to undertake.  Some of the other upgrades include engine and gearbox replacement, a new electronics package, new gen set, batteries and install a new bow thruster.  Circa Marine have all of these trades in house under one roof & to ensure we meet the customers deadline.
