Let's get to know her, part 2 - Saloon Deck.

Let's get to know her, Part 2 - Saloon Deck.

Deo Juvante’s interior has a very elegant style, a result of the inspired vision of its owner. This Image below was the owner’s inspiration from which the Interior Designer, Kurt Wallaey from Belgium, developed Deo Juvante’s’ interior styling.
The theme is “ Sunset behind the mountain”.

Circa worked closely with both Kurt and The owner, sourcing products that met the brief to create the highly bespoke look that is Deo Juvante. There was of course availability constraints due to the impacts of covid, requiring alternative options to be sourced and tested, to ensure the desired finish was delivered.

The very dark veneers were all specified to have a high gloss polish applied, as this changed their appearance, the look and availability of product drove the final veneer choice. The interior photo’s do not begin to do justice to the veneer and finish, as the veneer in the photos loses its texture, In natural light the grain of the veneer is evident and striking without being dominant, very elegant indeed. So lets take a look……

Here we are in the saloon at the forward end of the dining area, with the galley aft leading to the aft deck. The gold streaks in the counter tops provide textural highlights to the elegant dark theme, as do the chairs recovered by Circa’s master upholsterer in a deep blue victory ink fabric personally chosen by the interior designer based in Belgium from the fabric samples supplied from NZ.

Starboard of the dining table is a built in table for a keyboard for the talented family’s music sessions, with room forward in the lounge/cosy area to set up their drum kit.

The port-side stairway access to the lower accommodation deck is protected by a dark tinted glass balustrade. The flooring is a high grip product that is warm to the touch especially with the underfloor heating providing consistent warmth throughout the vessel. The feature wall forward of the dining area provides a sense of separation between dining and cosy area whilst still allowing light and visibility to bring it all together.

The lounge/cosy area, transitions from the more formal dark theme of the dining area to the more relaxed elegant white and cream finish, with a central TV viewing couch finished in the same luxurious blue fabric utilised for the dining chairs, which ties the two areas together

The custom built curved cosy chairs are covered with a cream soft ultra-leather adding a further sense of luxury with a thick shag pile carpet to really soften this area. The “Circle of light” above is another bespoke feature, which sets the scene, creating gentle ambient light for family movie nights.

Moving aft, we find the galley featuring a 39 bottle wine chiller and intricate cabinetry housed below the stairway leading to the flybridge. This continues the dark elegant theme highlighted by stainless rails, and gold streaks through the bench-tops. The galley is a comfortable and secure working space with a large island servery than contains a Miele Speed oven and a complimentary combo oven. There is more than ample storage space throughout the galley, and an integrated vertical fridge freezer aft of the island bench that seemingly disappears, adjacent to this is a large window that opens out to the aft deck, to the port is the large freeman watertight door leading to the aft deck.

The Aft Deck provides perfect outdoor dining for those warm tropical nights, or picnic lunches. This area is sure to become a favourite hangout location, again the Blue seating, the high gloss black painted aluminium and the bench-tops all tying together the indoor and outdoor style. The opening window allows both fresh air to flow through the galley, and promotes a sense of togetherness between the galley and aft deck. Complimenting this is a BBQ and deep fryer outboard of the entry door to take care of that freshly caught fish, for the perfect feed of fish and chips.

Built into the Aft deck island bar is an ice-maker, a dishwasher and a drinks fridge, with plenty of space for preparing or serving food and drinks. The ceiling features “Starlights” representing a view of the sky specific to the owner, as a personal visual detail when relaxing in the evenings on the aft deck.

“Deo Juvante” is a perfect example of how a combined effort between Builder, Owner and Interior Designer spanning multiple time zones, during covid restrictions and supply chain limitations can produce spectacular results.
