We have been moured up in marina Taina in Tahiti for the last 4 days. The party life on the island is unexplainable, during the day a popular sand bank is covered with hundreds of people and boats including big house party boats which are basically a floating deck with mini bar and massive stereo.
We have been thoroughly enjoying the scenery in particular the typical European swimming attire. At night the bars and clubs are incredible considering we are on a small island in the middle of no where. It has been a lot of fun trying to speak French. Tomorrow I’m going diving on a charter to a wreck from the 2nd world war.
The aquatic life around here is incredible, on the dock, where we have dirty looking mussels and algae Tahiti has brightly coloured coral, where we have mullet, and sprats they have huge brightly coloured tropical fish that you would expect to see in an expensive aquarium display. Working through the list of jobs in this heat has been a nightmare and jobs on deck have led to 5 minutes of work per 10 minutes of swimming. We heavily initiated the new apprentice to join the crew, Ben, if he thinks that was bad, a hangover has nothing on sea sickness.
Jack flies out tomorrow and will be missed, he has turned into a pretty good mate and will have to be kept in touch with. We are off to get some McDonalds now much to Tony’s disgust, and later this afternoon we have an island tour, not quite a convertible BMW but it will do. So far so good.
